This fantastic holiday will have us stay in some of the nicest hotels in the United States and visit some of its most iconic locations.
30th September to 9th October 2019
We begin our tour in the very southern state of Louisiana and the amazing city that is New Orleans.
We then travel up through Alabama taking in the ancestral home and the grave of the late, great Hank Williams. Then we head north to Muscle Shoals and visit the iconic Fame Studios where artists such as Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Clarence Carter, Solomon Burke and Percy Sledge and Aretha Franklin have all performed. And finally we head north again into the home of Country Music, Nashville Tennessee.
This is all done in the company of Keep it Country’s managing director and presenter, Mr Phil Mack.
Monday 30th September – We have a direct flight from London Heathrow departing at 15.40, arrival in New Orleans at 19.35. Alternatively we fly from Dublin to London Heathrow departing Dublin at 10.25 a.m., arrival at 12.15, depart Heahtrow at 15.40 on the same flight as Phil Mack and the rest of the group. On arrival we will be met by our coach and taken to the lovely Hampton Inn and Suites in New Orleans.
Tuesday 01st October – This morning we have a city tour of New Orleans taking in all that this historic city has to offer. The afternoon and evening are free to enjoy the French Quarter.
Wednesday 2nd October – We have left the morning free to relax. This afternoon you will enjoy a New Orleans Steamboat lunch cruise.
Thursday 3rd October – Today we depart for Montgomery travelling up through Louisiana and Alabama. We will first visit the boyhood home of the legend that was Hank Williams in Georgiana, Alabama and then Arriving into Montgomery we will visit the Hank Williams Museum. Overnight in the Drury Inn and Suites in Montgomery
Friday 4th October – After breakfast we depart for Muscle Shoals. Upon arrival in Muscle Shoals we will tour the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and be joined by one of the original “Swampers” who will talk to the group about their experiences with the stars.
We then check in at the Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa, Florence. After dark we visit Spring Park and enjoy the Light and Water show, where 51 jet water features dance to light and music.
Saturday 5th October – This morning we leave Alabama and cross the state border into Tennessee and on up into Nashville where we check into the fabulous Gaylord Opryland hotel.
Sunday 6th October – This morning we will have a three hour city sightseeing tour taking in some of the iconic sights of Nashville. Then in the afternoon we will have time to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and historic Studio B.
Monday 7th October –. Today is free for optional activities hotel. You may decide to chill out at the beautiful Opryland Hotel or spend the day shopping at Opry Mills or just relaxing down town and listing to the great music in the honky tonks.
Tuesday 8th October – First thing on our itinerary is a visit to the Ryman Auditorium. Again you may decide to spend the day at Opry Mills for a spot of shopping or just chill out in your hotel. Tonight we attend a performance at the Grand Ole Opry. Overnight Nashville.
Wednesday 9th October – All good things must come to an end and we can enjoy the best that Nashville has to offer today before checking in at the airport for our flights home.
