Malaysia

Malaysia combines the best of East Asian economic development with centuries of rich cultural history spanning multiple nationalities and religions. In the countrysides and rainforests, ancient traditions and wildlife are preserved, while urban Malaysia showcases culture and cuisine to newcomers in thoroughly modern settings.  Malaysia is a golfing heaven with world-class golf courses to suit all tastes. There is a wealth of world-renowned course designers who have designed a wide-variety of layouts taking advantage of the mountains, the rain forests and the seashore in their design concepts. Malaysia is a place where the glorious pleasure of a round of golf is intensified by some of the most magnificent scenery in the world. It doesn’t matter whether you’re playing on a private, club or resort golf course – the views might change but the drama of it will not.

Sitting almost directly on the equator, weather in Malaysia is typically balmy and sunny, with stable temperatures ranging between 22 and 32 degrees Celsius throughout the year.

Below are some areas we feature including some suggested hotels and golf courses.

Golf around Kuala Lumpur is plentiful and of the highest standard.  Listed below are just a couple of examples:

The Mines Resort & Golf Club is a miracle of man and nature. A unique transformation of the World’s largest open cast tine mine into a golf course like no other, it is a product of vision and inspiration. The location has a rich history dating back to 1909 when tin was a precious metal fetching lucrative prices that made Malaysia the largest producer of tin in the world. Mining ceased in 1982 leaving behind a vast stretch of depressions and lakes. And today, a stunning 18-hole golf course stands in its place. As a reminder of the glorious past, entrances to the old mine shafts still exist. But what really excites the avid golfer is the knowledge that a land once rich in precious minerals now exists as a natureland rich with beauty and wonder.

Established in 1893, the Royal Selangor Golf Club is one of Malaysia's most well-known golf clubs. Also know as RSGC, the club has played a large role in influencing the golfing landscape of Malaysia. Today, its members include corporate giants, industrial heavy-weights, cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats and any one with the income to play golf. The club has also been the venue for many international tournaments.

The club has a 45-hole golf course which comprises two 18-hole courses and a short 9-hole course. Located along Tun Razak road in the heart of the city, the Royal Selangor Golf Course is also a well-landscaped area, with rich natural surroundings permeated by the call of birds and chatter of monkeys.

Penang

A fascinating fusion of the East and West, Penang embraces modernity while retaining its traditions and old world charm. These are reflected in its harmonious multiracial populace and well-preserved heritage buildings which led to George Town being accorded a listing as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site recently. Long regarded as the food capital of Malaysia, Penang also entices visitors with its beautiful coasts and scrumptious cuisines. While soaking in the sun at one of the many beautiful beaches is a must, visitors must bring along their most comfortable walking shoes because there is a whole new world to be explored in the quaint nooks and crannies of George Town. Offering the best of Asia, Penang 's sights and sounds reflect the colourful heritage of its many races and the pride of its people. Be it lush tropical gardens or ornately designed temples and unique heritage buildings, Penang will give you a glimpse into a world where nature, tradition and history blend into a rich cultural tapestry.
