New Zealand

New Zealand has been now for many years at the very top of our favourite destinations to bring golfers and non golfers alike.

Our clients have always come back being absolutely delighted with their experience and enchanted by the beauty and diversity of the country and very tempted to go back for a second or third time despite the undeniable distance. The scenary in both the north and south islands is mesmerising, the cities are friendly and offer great restaurants and bars and a warm welcome, the golf courses are second to none for their magnificent settings, beautiful lay outs and faultless condition - overall New Zealand is just a great destination for any type of holiday with and without golf.

In all of our organised tours we have always tried to include as much of the country as possible, which means quite a bit of travelling but also the chance to see as much of the attractions as possible in both the North and the South Islands.

Getting to New Zealand is without doubt a long affair, however if you allow for stopovers along the way, it really is not too bad.  You can of course reach New Zealand going via Asia and stopping off in places such as Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore or via the States stopping off in Los Angeles or doing both and making your trip a round the world one.

We know the country well so we can of course put together any lenght and type of holiday for you from adventure low cost accommodation type of stays to five star tours taking in the best of hotels and golf courses - let us know what your budget is and we will be happy to cater for it! Outlined below is a sample itinerary of one of our escorted golf tours, however please bear in mind this is only an example and a myriad of alternative itineraries can be put together to just suit your requirements - give us a call in the office and we will be happy to advise you and tailor make your perfect trip to this magical land.

Some facts for you:

With vast open spaces filled with stunning rugged landscapes, gorgeous beaches, often spectacular geothermal and volcanic activity, a temperate climate and fascinating animal and plant life, it is no surprise that New Zealand’s pure natural environment is so attractive to visitors from other countries. And the great advantage of New Zealand is there are many different landscapes, environments, and ecosystems so close to each other. New Zealand's spectacularly beautiful landscape includes vast mountain chains, steaming volcanoes, sweeping coastlines, deeply indented fiords and lush rainforests.

Comparable in size and/or shape to Great Britain, Colorado or Japan, New Zealand has a population of only 4 million - making it one of the world's least crowded countries. It is a haven for those seeking peace, rejuvenation and relaxation as well as a playground for thrill seekers and adventurers. A temperate climate with relatively small seasonal variation makes it an ideal year-round holiday destination. New Zealand has a unique and dynamic culture. The culture of its indigenous Māori people affects the language, the arts, and even the accents of all New Zealanders. Their place in the South Pacific, and their love of the outdoors, sport, and the arts make New Zealanders and their culture unique in the world.

New Zealand is the youngest country on earth - the last major landmass to be discovered. It has a rich and fascinating history, reflecting both our Maori and European heritage. Amazing Maori historic sites and taonga (treasures), some dating back almost a thousand years, are a contrast to many beautiful colonial buildings. A walk around any New Zealand city today shows what a culturally diverse and fascinating country they have become.

This stunning area of the North Island was first named by Captain James Cook in 1797 and was later made famous by the American author, Zane Grey. It is world renowned for Big Game Fishing.

While on Lake Taupo, play golf at Wairakei International Golf Course – this is a beautiful privately owned parkland course and many rate it as the best in New Zealand.

Also travel around the lake to Kinloch to play the Jack Nicklaus designed course, another high class course to be enjoyed in spite of its difficulty.

Play one round of golf at Clearwater Resort.

Day 13 - 19

You have a spectacular day long drive ahead of you, which may sound daunting, but we can assure you is one of the highlights of the trip with stops along the way to view the glacial lakes and fabulous scenery of 3000 meters high peaks on your journey to Queenstown.

Accommodation for 6 nights in Queenstown at the Mercure Resort on a B+B basis – the hotel overlooks Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Range of mountains.

While in Queenstown visit the delightful historic town of Arrowtown and play the Sir Bob Charles designed course of Millbrook just five minutes away. Be dwarfed by the dramatic Alpine scenery while you play excellent golf.

Also take an exhilarating jet boat ride on the world famous Shotover Jet followed by a sedate journey across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw to a high country sheep station at Walter Peak for a BBQ lunch.

Once again enjoy the incredible scenery while playing Queenstown Golf Club, which looks easy but it is actually quite a challenge

Also a must, a full day tour to Milford Sound which includes a cruise on the sound out to the Tasman Sea on a catamaran launch with buffet lunch on board included. One of the World Heritage treasures with quite magnificent scenery. A long day but a memorable one.

Finally play a last round of golf on one of the best courses in the country, Jack’s Point - set on the opposite banks to Queenstown on Lake Wanaka, the superb lay out takes every advantage of the natural beauty of the landscape.

Fly back to Ackland for your return flight home.

The above is of course ony an outline of what we can organise for you and both duration and itinerary can be changed to suit your needs.  If you have less than three weeks to spend in New Zealand, the above programme can be condensed a litte or on the other hand many other attractive areas can be added to it if you have more time to spend in this wonderful country.

Please contact us in the office and we will be happy to put together a great itinerary for a trip of a life time!
