Dominican Republic

For a long time now this has been our favourite destination in the Caribbean.  If you fancy the idea of teeing off on top quality golf courses, having a tropical cocktail at the end of your round of golf and going back to beautiful resorts with palm fringed white sandy beaches - this is the destination for you.

Caribbean life is laid back and most of the resorts on the island are on an all inclusive basis, so what you pay before you go is pretty much all you will spend - all food and drinks are included as well as non motorised watersports and entertainment.

There are two main areas we feature - Punta Cana and La Romana.  Both offer excellent accommodation and outstanding golf courses.  Please find below details on some of the hotels and golf courses we recommend, which will make your stay in the Caribbean an unforgettable one.

GOLF IN PUNTA CANA

Punta Cana Resort - Corales

Completed in October 2009, the Tom Fazio designed Corales Golf Course is set between rocky cliffs, coral reefs and the expansive Caribbean Sea. Six oceanfront holes. Multiple lines of approach. Picturesque canyons. A round at Corales can be a supremely rewarding experience. This exhilarating challenge culminates in the striking eighteenth hole with a dramatic carry over the rocky Bay of Corales, an inspired capstone to a breathtaking golf course. Access to Corales Golf Course is exclusive to Corales residents and a limited number of other members and guests of Tortuga Bay and PUNTACANA Hotel.

Punta Cana Resort - La Cana

The La Cana Golf Course is the spectacular new seaside golf course designed by the talented P.B. Dye of the illustrious Dye family. Fourteen holes feature breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, and four play along the ocean itself. And in true Dye form, P.B. has crafted each hole to present its own unique challenge: sometimes infuriating, always memorable. Golf Magazine writes: "The grand par-five 18th, a gentle dogleg to the left, is clearly patterned after the famous 18th at Pebble Beach, only here the shoreline is sandier, the water bluer, and the journey from tee to green longer and more perilous".

Punta Espada

The first of three Jack Nicklaus designed courses to grace Cap Cana, the Punta Espada course is destined to be the most eye-popping, with 13 of its 18 holes overlooking the Caribbean. Punta Espada was designed to incorporate the natural features of the landscape into its topography...the bluffs, the beach, the waterways and the jungle foliage. Enjoy spectacular sea views and close-up encounters with nature while you tackle these challenging links! The design also guarantees that golfers of all levels are accommodated, including those playing at the world championship level.

Cocotal

Renowned architect, Jose "Pepe" Gancedo, six-time Spanish champion, designed the course by following the lay of the land, using the natural terrain to provide a route easily remembered long after the player finishes. The trademark features are strategically-placed trees, bunkers, mounds and gently rolling terrain with well-defined and generous fairways without forgetting an unrelenting wind. The utilization of four sets of tees provides low-handicapped golfers with a course of great challenge, while beginners and intermediate players can continually improve their game in a player-friendly environment.

La Romana

Casa de Campo Resort
At Casa de Campo, we know that your time is valuable and your comfort is our top priority. All of our accommodations give you plenty of room to stretch out. Couples will find our rooms spacious yet cozy. Families can enjoy connecting rooms or a suite...and larger families or friends traveling together will love the private home-like comforts of our villas. Whatever accommodation choice is best for you, here you will find the warm spirit of Dominican hospitality and service, along with an outstanding variety of dining, recreation, and amenities so you can relax, revitalize and relish your time at your home away from home.

GOLF IN LA ROMANA

Casa de Campo - The Links Course

The Links course, also designed by Pete Dye, has a moderately hilly track with tall bahia and guinea grass roughs as well as plenty of sand traps to keep you on your toes. Thought by some to be reminiscent of traditional British and Scottish courses, there are several lagoons and even lakes with wading birds. There are five holes where water comes into play on this course making it a challenge unto itself.

Casa de Campo - Dye Fore

Of the 18 picturesque holes on the Dye Fore course, number 12 and number 15 are two of the greatest par-three holes in the world. This new addition to the Casa de Campo golf triad is said to rival the "Teeth of the Dog" course. "Dye Fore has spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, the mountains, the Chavon River below and the Altos de Chavon artists' village" said Gilles Gagnon, Director of Golf at Casa de Campo. "Visually, this course is intimidating and the par-3s are incredible!"

Casa de Campo - Teeth of the Dog

Ranked the Number One course in the Caribbean and 34th in the the Top 100 Courses in the World by Golf Magazine, play Teeth of the Dog's seven holes directly on the Caribbean Sea. The "Teeth" course attracts the best professional and amateur golfers in the world. Tricky shots include a devilish dogleg and signature Dye obstacles such as elevated greens and trick of the eye trees. Top-notch caddies are ready and eager to guide you through the terrain.
