All Star Entertainment Trip 20th - 27th Sep

I started this concept in 1982 with the Joe Cuddy Classic, that is the concept of celebrities travelling with a group taking part in all the activities, playing golf and meeting everybody.  It has since been taken up and imitated by many people.

I had pretty well decided to opt out of the scene since so many people were imitating but a couple of things happened this year, which made me decide that I wanted to put my individual stamp on what a real entertainment trip should be. 

I look at the list of people, sometimes a very lengthy one, appearing on cruises or what have you and quite honestly I struggle to recognise the name of the people who are “supposedly” stars.  So I have decided that our trip will definitely be an entertainment one with show people who are quite categorically STARS.

The venue will be Sesimbra in Portugal.  It is tried and tested, we can fly from Dublin or Cork directly to Lisbon in just over 2 hours and our hotel, the Sesimbra Spa, is directly overlooking the sea, every room having a balcony and also a sea view.  They also have a terrific venue to hold entertainment functions.

The trip will take place from Monday the 20^th of September for a week but of course because you are travelling by scheduled flights, if you want to extend or if you can only make it for a long weekend, no problems, we can look after that as well.

Golf will be played as always on what I consider still arguably the best holiday golf courses I have ever played anywhere in the world, that is Quinta do Peru.  We will play twice there and once at Aroeira.  Again both tried, tested and proven and within spitting distance of the hotel and you will be able to meet people and the stars and enjoy competitive golf organised by Killester Travel.

Finally, who are the stars taking part?  I particularly would like to point out the way they do when announcing who is going forward in the various talent competitions that these stars are not being announced in any particular order of importance but let us have ladies first and say that I am delighted to welcome Rebecca Storm, unarguably Ireland’s first lady of song.  She will be accompanied on the trip by Tommy Fleming, Dickie Rock, Paddy Cole, Joe Cuddy and Finbar Furey.  In fact, when I announced the line up, the first comment from Dickie was how everybody is going to get time to take part but I am quite sure that will be done and the standard and level of entertainment will be of the vey highest order, certainly I am looking forward to the trip myself.

The cost will be €995 for a golfer and €850 for a non golfer plus taxes and golf bag charges.  Also included in the trip will be three dinners with wine.
